When looking through the AOTA website about Specialty & Board Certifications I found myself being pulled toward Seating and Mobility Specialization (SMS). 

I had a 6 month long internship/ educational experience in Ghent, Belgium when I was  a junior in college. This gave me the opportunity to work directly with clients. I found myself exhilarated when I got to work with clients who had prosthetics or where wheelchair bound. Something about the engineering of it or the practice of learning how to become mobile again, but in an entirely new way was just fascinating. 

I feel that in order to commit to a certification one must feel a strong desire for that field. The application process will be straining and won't seem worth it if you don't believe in that category. I believe SMS is something I am willing to put the in the effort for.

post interview reflection

How do you feel the interview went overall?  i felt that it went well. I was a bit awkward, but i attribute that to nerves. I think next time when i prepare i need to spend some time calming down before hand. I think I was able to give concise and conversational answers. How did you prepare for the interview? I read over an article on the top 11 interview questions and answers to give from the AOTA website. I also conversed with my peers and suggested we tell each other how we think they should answer. It helps to have an outsiders perspective when looking at yourself What went differently than you expected? I was prepared for the interview question to be more centered towards my strengths and weaknesses rather than what I look for in a career. I was nervous about the idea of having to give an evaluation of myself. Leadership Glyf

Looking at my glyf that i made in my first year of OT school was a crazy moment. I feel like I'm light years ahead of where i was then. It feels like I'm at a point I didn't think I would ever make it to. I partially expected my glyf from the other day to look different. The only difference was the face shape. This represented thinking a leader was born or raised. I said before they were born leaders because i believe all leaders need to have something inside them that sparks the fire of leadership. I still feel that way but i decided to change my answer because even if you are born with a talent, you wont develop that unless you nurture and encourage those qualities. Overall, I haven't changed much in terms of my beliefs on leadership, but at least I know that my beliefs are backed up this time due to my experiences throughout school.
