ALS Neuro-note
To understand Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) I watched the movie The Theory of Everything . This was the story of Stephen Hawking and his experience with ALS, and how his life changed with its progression. I chose to write about this, partially because the movie was very well made, but also because Stephen Hawking is an example of an exceptional case of ALS. He was diagnosed much younger than most people and lived much longer. The movie made me aware of what the actual life style is like with ALS. Most of the time we think about what it does to the body, but we never think about how our daily lives and occupations change. This movie is great for OT students because it allows us to visualize what occupations are important and how they can be adapted to the client, instead of just imagining it. Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on your video! I love that your rose was that your CI was a manager of the site and you got to see variations of different types of therapy. That works out great that one of you your level II rotations is in hand therapy so you got a feel for the setting now and could prepare. Can't wait to see ya after break!

Emily,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed hearing about your site! I am glad it was a positive experience for you. I know that this rotation helped to prepare you for your level II rotation. It is good that you got to see a variation of things in this setting. It is definitely helpful that your CI exposed you to documentation and managing others. I know you are going to do well on your next rotation!
